Jubilate Brass is a versatile and exciting brass ensemble, initially established in 1990 to enhance the musical content of important services and graduation ceremonies at Canterbury Cathedral. This 8-10 piece ceremonial ensemble is ideally suited to large venues and dramatic settings.
Formed in 1902 in the small town of Comber, in gentle County Down countryside at the northwest corner of Strangford Lough, the band has undergone progressive change. After beginning as a flute band, in 1949 the band had the foresight to turn to brass and has since enjoyed impressive success in local concerts and contests.
Fine Arts Brass (FAB) are the leading UK brass quintet, with trumpeters Simon Lenton and Angela Whelan, horn player Chris Parkes, trombonist Katy Pryce and tuba player Sam Elliott. They play brass quintet music ranging from early music to classical, romantic and avant-garde.
Trumpet/flugelhorn soloist Mike Metheny is a native of Lee's Summit, Missouri and has degrees from the University of Missouri/Columbia (B.S. in Music Education) and Northeast Missouri State University (Masters in Music Education). His teachers included Keith House and John Alexander.
Mr. Austin has led a varied career in music to date performing in many musical circles (jazz, classical, and contemporary music). In high school, he was selected to play at the opening of Euro-Disney and was also a featured performer at the 1992 Montreux Jazz festival in Switzerland. In addition, he was selected as the first trumpet of the Maine All-State festival while attending Nokomis Regional High School.
